A letter of appreciation to every guy who strives for clarity.

In a world full of uncertainty,

How clarity is so manly. 

Thank you.
Intentionally or unintentionally, thank you for guarding my heart.

For choosing not to give out hints that will lead to confusion,
For carefully choosing your words that will allow me to never ever second guess what it means.

Thank you that your words are consistent with your actions.
That every word and every move is carefully well versed to never baffle anyone, especially me.

Thank you for making me smile without the intention to unbosom false hopes.
For sometimes, the little things are the very reason
why people assume over obscurity.

Thank you for the conversations that were never pointed towards you,
But points me back to our Savior, Jesus. Always.
For conversations as such accentuates
not you,
or me,
but Him.

Thank you, because regardless if you consciously or unconsciously do all that,
I am secured because His security overflows with the actions that you portray,
For they never bring me to unwated presumptions that will stir up any notion.

Thank you for the rare yet very genuine talks.
It reminds me that genuine things needs are not meant to be rushed.
They are meant to be cherished in patience having great anticpation of what it holds.

Clarity may not be a popular preference nowadays.
But, thank you for choosing the unpopular decision.
For brimming my heart with certainty rather than confusion.
For our God is not a God of confusion.

Thank you for your clarity razes every confusion.
Because absence of confusion, brings about peace,
That of which transcends understanding that of will guard our hearts and minds.

Oh, how clarity is so manly.

This, too, is a call for every guy to strive for clarity.

A loving Father letting His Son die on the Cross?

"What kind of God (Father) sends His Son to such a horrific death to satisfy His own sense of justice? Why does Jesus have to die to save us from our sins?"

I know most of us had those questions ringing in our minds, and that at some point in time we got  a little confused.

Most of the people only understand one side of God . We always see and hear the very famous "God loves you" wherever we go. Yes, we can never take out the fact that He is really a loving God. 
His love for us is beyond understanding. It is eternal, incomparable, unchanging, unending and unconditional.
But we cannot also take out the fact that God is JUST. God is so holy that He could not let sin go unpunished. He can't even take a look at sin. He is a God of justice that He cannot just let the filthy things of this world get in the way of His beautiful and precious creation, US-- you and me. Since He is holy and just, He could not let sin go unpunished. Since He is also loving, He could not let men be eternally separated from Him.

We must understand that God did not do this just because He wanted to satisfy His own sense of justice, but actually to show His love for you and me. I believe that once we understand both attributes of God, we can appreciate and marvel more on what God has done in our lives.

In Reading and studying the scripture, Romans 3:25 and the Apologetic Bible provided several points about the questions that was written at the first part of this blog:

1.) Actually, Jesus' death on the cross was not involuntarily. He gave His life voluntarily (John 10:14-18). Also, He was the only one qualified for this sacrificial death on the cross because of his sinless life. We all have sinned (Romans 3:23), not even one is blameless and spotless.

2.) We sometimes think that God the Father and the Holy Spirit was not in the picture when Jesus was being crucified on the cross. The Triune God, not just Jesus is involve in this world's suffering. The Father and Spirit were not detached but were intimately involved with the Son's suffering.

3.) As I said in this blog, God's holiness and and sin's offensiveness to such perfect, unsullied, personal being. Sin elicits his just, wrath response the removal of all traces of sinners and sin. In short, HE REALLY CANNOT STAND SIN.

4.) God's limitless love for His human creatures made in His own image and likeness was displayed on what happened on the cross. In love, God acted to save those who trust Him.

To sum this all up, our God is a loving and a just God at the same time. We cannot take away one from the other. I believe that trusting Him with all your heart, mind, soul and strength will help us understand Him more. His love is beyond compare, and as we draw ourselves near Him, we will appreciate what He has done for us and the whole mankind.

Pain & Bruises.

As we run through the race that is marked out for us in our life and reach our ultimate goal which is Jesus, we have the "human tendency" to stop or pause. There are several things which cause us to stop running in the race. Oftentimes, we stop because we fix our eyes on another so called "goal". Our gaze is not perfectly fixed on the ultimate goal that can lead us to running towards a wrong path. Sometimes, we stop because we trip off. Then we get bruises. We fix our eyes on the bruises that we get. What we don't realize is we should just keep running, and all the more that we don't focus on the bruises, but surrender it all to Him and just let the Mighty Healer heal it. Then we realize that He heals in the most perfect way possible.

Let me focus on us getting tripped off and having bruises. Let me make this simple. When we are walking or running and we are not watching our steps, our tendency is to trip off, most especially when we don't have the right balance. In this race of life, we always tend to get out of focus because of some situations or decisions. The next thing after getting in the wrong situation or making the wrong decision is the pain of being disappointed, or seeing that we did not do the right thing. What we do is we try to heal all the bruises which eventually causes us so much pain. We exert efforts that we think can heal all the pain and remove the scars. But, what we don't realize is that, we still hurt ourselves in the process of trying to heal all the bruises alone. We don't recognize that we need someone who can heal the pain. The One who won't just heal all the pain, but will eventually take all the pain away and will not even leave a scar. But because we are not perfect beings ,we really have this tendency to get hurt.

 Pain is a part of the race. 

As I was reading "The Problem of Pain" by CS Lewis these past few days,  it helped me understand the purpose of pain in our life and how it is a part of the race that we are running in to. Pain is given to us for us to realize the need of a total surrender to God. Quoted from CS Lewis, "But it gives the only opportunity the bad man can have for amendment. It removes the veil; it plants the flag of truth with the fortress of a rebel soul.... The full acting out of the self's surrender to God therefore demands pain: this action, to be perfect, must be done in the pure will to obey, in the absence, or in the teeth, of inclination." 

Pain is therefore one way of God telling us to surrender and give it all to Him. When we finally realize that a full, total obedience and surrender can actually heal the pain. Pain leads us to repentance, and repentance leads us to God.  

Whatever you are experiencing at the moment, I pray and hope that you will find God in your brokenness. Remember that God is close to the broken hearted (Psalm 34:18) and that when we recognize that He is the Lord in this kinds of times, he will surely deliver us from it. Remember that He already died for us and all these things that you are experiencing is just something that God uses to teach us some important things that we should know in life. Surrender and obey. Remember, the pain will be worth it. :)

Love, Forgive and Forget?

It was in the middle of a very very warm morning when I was just lying down on my bed when I heard a lot of babbling around me. I couldn't really stand the babbling but even before I spoke up, I was just reminded of a verse in 1 Corinthians 13 that says; " Love does not keep records of wrong." This is exactly found in verse 5d. I was so eager to post about God's very abrupt revelation on Facebook but, all the thoughts I had in mind could not possibly fit in 420 characters. So, here it is.

Not everyone can actually understand first and foremost what is love and how it is to be loved. Growing up, I know a lot of us thought that love is just a feeling that gives us cute butterflies on our tummies. I never really knew the fullness of love is until I experienced the love of Jesus in my life. I decided to love Jesus. It was never just waking up and magic! "I love Jesus!". I know that it was a continuous and an everyday decision, to love Jesus more and more each day. I understood what the real meaning of love is when I came to know what God did to show His love for us. He sent Jesus, His only son to save us from eternal damnation. "Oh, gosh.." I began to think, "I don't think any person living today can do that. Not even me." Those were the thoughts I had in mind while I was still a little kid. Though I was still as little as 11 years old when I came to know Jesus, I know in my heart that I surrendered to His Lordship. Up until now, I'm still amazed every single time that I am reminded of God's love for you and me. 

Talking about how much God loves us, forgiveness will always be accompanied by it.  For me, love and forgiveness is inseparable. God loves us so much that He sent His son, Jesus to die and FORGIVE us from our sins.  Each and every time I am reminded on how God unceasingly forgives us, I am just humbled and amazed because I believe that as humans, forgiving is one hard thing. Once you have never experienced the real meaning of FORGIVENESS, it will be hard for us to forgive someone. At the same time, I am really moved that God commands us to forgive as much as He forgives each and every day. No matter how hard and painful it is, we should forgive.

But, there's this big issue with us humans that sometimes, we say that we "forgive" someone, but we keep on bringing back what the person has done wrong. Talking about the verse found in 1 Corinthians 13:5d, not keeping records of wrong means not to continue talking about or bringing up what the person has done wrong. Do you know that our very forgiving God does not only forgive us, but also FORGETS whenever we ask for forgiveness from our sins (Isaiah 43:25)? That just gave me a tap on the back that we are called not only to forgive but also to forget and most especially not to upbraid the fault. 

It is not EASY, i know. I've been there. But by the grace of God and by the Spirit is the one that will enable us to truly LOVE, FORGIVE and most especially FORGET. Let us quit on reminding the people who had a fault on us about what they had done, instead, love that person more and more and forgive that person wholeheartedly and then, forget. Bringing back the faults won't make us a better person. If you truly love the people around you (may it be your wife, husband, family, siblings, friends), you will quit on upbraiding the faults.

The snail.

Who would have thought that the snail would reach the great ark that Noah built? 

Who would have thought that he would survive the great flood?

I pondered on these thoughts when I saw the quote:

“By perseverance the snail reached the ark.” 

- Charles H. Spurgeon

Again, I asked myself, who would have thought?

I begin to look at my situation as a student now. The past few weeks I've been contemplating if I'm still going to pursue this course. It's been a tough time since I started studying this course. I began to looked at my capabilities and skills and saw my self staring at the blue and knowing that I'm not good enough. Finally, by seeing this quote, I began to realize that even a snail, a very slow creature reached his destination. I thought to my self, "I'm not even a snail. So... If that tiny thing can do it, so do I."

PERSEVERANCE. That was the key to how the snail reached the ark. This is the key to reach the goal. I think, there's one more... GRACE that comes from Him. Now, I think I finally got the answer to the direction that I'm trying to find.

PERSEVERANCE + GOD'S GRACE = SUCCESS!

Though I may not graduate on time, I know that God is going to use me at my campus. I know that His plans are better than mine. So, Lord... HAVE YOUR WAY.

Date A Man Who is Willing to Wait

Date a man who is willing to wait. 
Date a man who is patient, 
the one who can wait not only for hours but even for a lifetime. 
Date a man who does not only know how to wait, 
but who is willing to wait wholeheartedly. 


Date a man who would never rush you into falling in love, 
for love should not be awaken until it so desires. 
Date a man who will not push you into something that might cause you to sin. 
But, date a man who is patient enough to let things happen in the right time. 
Date a man who seeks God while he is patiently waiting for the things he is praying for. 
Of course, date a man who prays. 
Date a man who looks not of the approval of men while he waits. 
Date a man who waits but does not doubt, because doubting is a sin.


Date a man who waits and sacrifices the benefits that the world can offer. 
Instead, he waits for what God would offer. 
Date a man who sees waiting as a joy rather than a burden. 
Date a man who waits because when does, 
he will be blessed not only with what he asked for, 
but he would receive more than that.  
Date a man who is willing to wait, 
because his strength will be renewed it will also be poured out in his life.


Date a man focuses on pleasing God while waiting, 
because when a man delights in God first, 
He will give him the desires of his heart.  
Date a man who does not only know how to wait, 
but date a man who knows how to wait patiently.


Date a man who is willing to wait, 
because everyone can wait, but not everyone is willing. 
Date a man who is willing to wait because when he does, 
he will receive what the Lord had promised. 
Date a man who is as well patient,  because God is the God of patience. 
Date a man who is patient, because God himself exhibited patience. 
Date man who is willing to wait, not only for a girl, 
but also a man who is willing to wait upon the Lord.


Date a man who is willing to wait, 
for waiting patiently can be a perfect expression of love.

What would you ask for?

Solomon asked for wisdom. 
This morning while I was doing the regular morning devotions I was reading 1 Kings 3 onwards. I was amazed with what I was reading and what God revealed to me.

God asked Solomon about what he wants. Maybe if we were in that position, we would probably make the most out of that. Solomon's answer was very surprising, he asked for a DISCERNING HEART. He asked for wisdom. Maybe some of us would be like, "Geez, Solomon you should have asked for something else." But with what he asked, God was so pleased. God was so pleased for his request and because of that he gave him more than he asked for. He also gave him riches and even long life (if he would continue to obey and walk with God). And because he asked for wisdom, he was able to give a very wise decision when the two mothers went to ask for judgement about their babies.


It made me realize that WISDOM is that important. I was reminded of what the book of Proverbs says about wisdom. First is the verse that says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10) This means that without you having that "fear of Lord" you won't have wisdom. With wisdom, it is also the beginning of understanding who God is in our lives. 


The book of proverbs also gave out some benefits of having wisdom. It is clearly stated in Proverbs 3. I would want to tackle every verse that says about wisdom but the verses are too many. So here it is;

¹³ Blessed are those who find wisdom,
   those who gain understanding,
¹⁴ for she is more profitable than silver
   and yields better returns than gold.
¹⁵ She is more precious than rubies;
   nothing you desire can compare with her.
¹⁶ Long life is in her right hand;
   in her left hand are riches and honor.
¹⁷ Her ways are pleasant ways,
   and all her paths are peace.
¹⁸ She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her;
   those who hold her fast will be blessed.

 ¹⁹ By wisdom the LORD laid the earth’s foundations,
   by understanding he set the heavens in place;
²⁰ by his knowledge the watery depths were divided,
   and the clouds let drop the dew.

 ²¹ My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight,
   preserve sound judgment and discretion;
²² they will be life for you,
   an ornament to grace your neck.
²³ Then you will go on your way in safety,
   and your foot will not stumble.
²⁴ When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
   when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

After doing my devotions, I asked God for wisdom not because I would receive the fullness of His blessing just like Solomon experienced, but I am asking for wisdom because I know that I would not only get through this life easier when I can make right decisions, but because I also wanted to understand who God is in my life.
